Another Sunday Night

I'm not quite sure how these pictures are going to post...But just another Sunday night with the family. We went over to Mark and Elaine's and had Julianne and Vance and then Von 3 over also. They are Von and Ann's kids. Good time. We brought the main dish this time and so we made the dutch oven stuffed pork chops that we love so much. Most everyone seemed to really enjoy it. Then we had a night of gossiping, laughing and playing games...just some good fun. I don't like to do too much on Sunday evenings and I was honestly quite hesitant about tonight's get together, but all turned out really well. I was glad we went.
Good food, good company and good fun. A nice way to end the Sabbath.
Missed you Jordan.

For the Next Four Days....

...I will be assisting in the move of our Apple Orthodontix office to it's new location on Lebanon. It's just one mile north in a great location but I have mixed emotions. I'm the only staff member left that started in the original office 6 years ago and it's a bittersweet event to be moving. i will miss my old office and all the memories that it holds for me over the past 6 years. Good doctors, assistants and wonderful patients that have become dear friends.
But, they all come with us...just a new and bigger place.
So today, the packing of the boxes began. We finished our work day around 2:00, ending the month of June with record numbers and success and I began packing up my belongings. It was a good time to purge out some of the junk I've accumulated over the past years, so I'm only going with about 6 boxes from my office instead of the expected 10 or so...Tomorrow and Saturday will be the big stuff being loaded on to a truck that won't be unloaded until Monday and then the fun begins...putting everything into it's new place. We officially open our new doors on Wednesday, July 1st.
So, a new beginning of sorts...oh, for my diet. Yeah, BIG set back this past month. I haven't used my Herballife in weeks and I've gained back a lot and even more inches. UGH!! A never ending battle. So, a new resolve..AGAIN. I start back full steam with a new month. Yeah, yeah, you've heard it before....me too.
For memory sake....both Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died today. Who were they??? Farrah was a beautiful actress that became well known for her gorgeous body and famous hairstyle - the early 70's. Michael Jackson was the music icon of the 70's, 80's and even longer...GREAT music with a fantastic beat, and could he dance!!! He was the Elvis Presley of my day and his music is still played at probably every dance held throughout the country/world. A truly gifted musician/performer. I love his music and talent. He was my age.

Today's Thought

"Every one of us
is called upon, probably many
times, to start a new life.
A frightening diagnosis, a
marriage, a move, loss of a job...
And onward full tilt we go,
pitched and wrecked and absurdly
resolute, driven in spite of
everything to make good on a
new shore. To be hopeful, to
embrace one possibility after
another - that is surely the basic
instinct....Crying out: High Tide!!
Time to move out into the
glorious debris. Time to take
this life for what it is.
I will be sad another day...
but today, I will enjoy
what life has to offer."

Lacking in Wisdom.....Teeth, that is...

So, Kylie and Kathryn both had their wisdom teeth out this past Thursday. Kylie had her lowers out and Kathryn had all four. Kathryn went first and was quite funny coming out of anesthesia. Kylie? Not so funny - she called me a witch with a B when I told her to quit talking and rest. I had to pull over twice on the way home for them to throw up on the side of the road and then Kylie threw up twice more here at home. I put them both snuggled into mine and Del's bed so it was to just one room when I needed to take care of them. When it was time for bed, we moved Kathryn to her room and Kylie to Jordan's room. With them both drugged up, they didn't re-appear until 5:00 the next morning. Friday was spent trying to keep them happy - chocolate pudding, mac and cheese, milk shakes, scrambled eggs, etc etc...WHINING??!! Yeh, there was some whining. Mike came and took Kylie home Friday night, just to return her Saturday morning because Michael didn't know what to do with her. More milk shakes, mac and cheese, treats, soup etc etc..and as much meds as I could get down them. Of course, more whining as they saw the literal swelling of their cheeks to chipmunk size.
Today was Father's Day and fairly calm and relaxing - both girls stayed home to rest while Del and I enjoyed the Sacrament and good lessons on the temple. Jordan called and had a nice visit with Del and then Mike and Kylie came over to play some games. A good Sabbath.
Del had a terrible week. He was ill - stomach problems mixed with severe MS symptoms...it was difficult for him especially the past two days to even function at all. I worry as I see his symptoms increasing in both duration and severity. I even heard him, for the first time, be honest with Jordan in telling him how he was feeling. I need to make sure Del rests as often as I can get him too. It's about all he can do to make it through a whole week of work and then a long Sabbath Day. He's a good man.
I have a long week coming up myself. Our office is moving locations this next week. I'm not looking forward to it. We will have chaos for at least a few days with probably some very unhappy patients. Transition is always difficult. We need to get settled as quickly as possible.
I made flight plans for Jordan to come home next month. He is coming the week of our anniversary and Kylie's birthday and he's going to have a 'Living Scriptures' party that we are going to host for him. We are hoping that he can get some of his dear friends here to purchase some of the DVD's he sells to help him earn money for school. He'll only be here for 4 days and then fly back, but it will be a cherished 4 days for sure. Then I also made flight arrangements for Kathryn to go to EFY in Utah. She'll be there the same week Jordan is here, but catch spending the last day with Jordan. She is very much looking forward to EFY.
So, our summer has begun full swing. The comings and goings will only be with the kids as Del and I are going to stay put, working to pay for the kids to go here and there. But we are too tired and old to be going all over the place - at least until next year. Then I think we'll try and do a family cruise....dreaming aren't I???

This is Him

This is Jonah...he came to the office today and made my, what would have been a terrible day, joyful!! Please read my previous post entitled 'Jonah' to understand why this child brings such a smile to my face...
I love you Jonah.

When the Family Get's Together

So the past two weeks have been filled with work, the winding down of school and the family getting together to play games and let the 'kids' play. Because Kylie has a 'new' puppy, Tucker, she forgets sometimes, that she has a previous 'child' Lacey. So, at least 2-3 times a week, she will bring Tucker over to visit and play with Lacey while she reconnects with Lacey...ie; girl talks, 'puppy counseling' and just bonding. They are cute together.
The two puppies 'love' each other for about an hour and then the love turns into a battle over most everything in the house...their food, their toys and the attention of the people. But they are fun to watch, chasing each other from one end of the house to the other. We make them work out most of their problems on their own unless we can see that the jugular vein is involved, which has come up a few times. Then, it tends to be Tucker just trying to let Lacey know that he's present and on the scene. Lacey puts him in his place and at times, claims her turf and her possessions quite firmly.
The new game of choice?? 'Likewise'. Mike and Kylie bought this game last week and brought it over Saturday night. Jordan happened to call Kylie while we were playing it for the first time so we just put him on speaker phone and for an hour, he played with us 'long distance' from Oregon. It was soooo much fun, we laughed out heads off. Of course, we love the disguising of our faces and the giggles we come out with. Good times.
School is officially out for summer...now Kathryn is in full swing preparing for girls camp next week. We went swimming suit shopping yesterday - too many giggles watching us each try to tuck our excessive body parts into these skimpy bathing suits - Kathryn on 'top' and me on the 'bottom'. Oh, it caused for some 'belly' laughing. Del and I had 'date night' last night where we actually left the house and went to a restaurant with a gift card given us by a friend, and then we went to a small celebration for Jonathan and Bev Roberts at the church. It was a nice evening alone where we got to talk and visit with each other and friends before coming home to walk the dogs and then play games with Mike and Kylie.
So summer begins...still work, cleaning house, doing laundry, doing dishes, yard work and all else that happens every day, I just get to do it with Kathryn now. Thank heavens I really like spending time with her.
