Monday - Day 2 of Family Reunion

Because our family had been on the television game show Family Feud in 1985, the game we played for Monday Family Night was none other than...FAMILY FEUD!!! Elaine had planned and asked all the family members over the past month their 'favorite' answers to several questions, compiled all the answers and then made them the top 7,8,3,5 or however many answers there were to each question for the game. It was a blast. She had questions for the little primary kids, then questions for the teenagers and then, of course, questions for the adults. Answers were held up by other participating family members. A huge success - lots of laughs and tons of fun. Of course, the FHE treat of choice was our traditional homemade Packard taffy, made and pulled by daddy and other volunteers. 'Pull, lap lap twist, pull lap lap twist.' It's all in the wrist. Starts off golden colored and should end up white - twist into a long rope shape and then clipped off in 'inch' length pieces. Ingredients? 2 cups sugar to 1 cup vinegar...easy..and a great tradition.

Afternoon game was Chutes and Ladders for all the teenagers and kids. They had to do some type of relay thing where on inner tubes, one team member goes so far in the river, gets out and hands off the inner tube to the next team member who goes the rest of the way...it was a blast to watch all of them paddling so hard throughout the course of the game. CUTE CUTE idea. And even though the water was REALLY cold, it gave the kids a great reason to get wet and find relief from the heat Kylie found a great 'swinging' friend in Maddie, her cousin Matt's daughter.

First, let me say that Elaine was the official reunion photographer and she has literally 100's of pictures of our events. I have had Kathryn and myself spend the past three days trying to download and tap into those pictures so I could use them in this blog - but nope...I am totally and completely technologically challenged so I'm having to use only the pictures that Kylie and I were able to take.
Even though our tent was sufficiently large and both Del and Kylie were on cots, SOME OF US didn't sleep as well as others. It was cold - even I was a little cold. And only Jordan and Del had ear plugs in, so my snoring kept even me awake. So come morning??? Top picture tells it all. It was decided that the next night, we would not be more interested in looking at the stars as we went to bed, but having the tent cover over us to keep the cold out.
Going to summarize it right from the beginning that all meals, breakfast, lunch and dinners, were all yummy and the cooking and clean-up was shared by all.
After Del and my daddy had played a few games of chess, the mornings game was 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?' hosted by Steve and Sheila. It was great with terrific questions and unbelievable prizes. Kylie represented our family and for her participation, won a Blu-ray DVD player. Each family won some type of gift - IPad's, cell phones, I Pods, etc etc...geez, Sheila and Steve went ALL out with the prizes. The winners were STUNNED and very appreciative. Kylie called home to Mike who appropriately flipped out!!!
