Reunion Starts - Sunday Night
The theme for our family reunion was 'Our Family Plays Games!!' So, the games began. But because it was also Father's Day, all fathers in the audience were treated to a 'spa night' from their children while the game 'Jeopardy' was played by me, Elaine and Phil. We had daddy's feet being massaged with oils, creams and lotions....heads were being massaged and hair was being colored. Glitter and bows were abundant - and the game was great. I ultimately won the game, but only because our 'host' made it possible by making the last question worth a bazillion points and I answered it correctly. Otherwise, Elaine was the clear winner. FUN FUN FUN.
The night got dark and late and we finally ended our fist day of reunion heading off to our tent at midnight...of course, that was AFTER we had spent yet another hour in Elaine's cabin playing more games!!!
Dinner was followed by family pictures, our first in 20 years. SOOO many pictures were taken and it was so hard to see which one's I was choosing in the file that I acutally didn't pick the best one's for this blog. But, they give you the idea.
The top is of us 12 siblings and my parents. Then we added our spouses, those of which were there. The next is of us trying to get Kylie, Jordan and all the other grandchildren there to behave themselves so we could get their picture. There are 68 grandchildren; we were short quite a few, as you can count in the picture. But then the above picture is of the grandchildren there, their spouses and even some great grandchildren - in fact, several great grandchildren. In total, I think we had over 125 family members there. Lots of fun!!!!
After camp was set up, we had some dinner and a short amount of time to just visit with arriving family. I was thrilled to be with my parents once again and see how vibrant and alive they were. There were also cousins to see and siblings to hug and kiss. Each family had been assigned a color of which we received a matching headband of that color. Our family had chosen royal blue, hence, there will be many pictures in the future where we are wearing the royal blue bandana. The bandana's were worn in a variety of ways and in various places. They became quite humorous at times.
Okay, so the last time our family went camping was 15 years ago at Scout Mountain in Pocatello Idaho. We video taped that experience, of which video has brought us MANY MANY years of laughter and enjoyment. So, us girls thought we would let the men entertain us once again with the putting up of our tent and setting up our tent site. Kylie, of course being pregnant, was excused from all strenuous activities. Kathryn, because of her beauty, was also excused. Me, because I'm just lazy, chose to stand aside and take pictures of the adventure.
It didn't disappoint. The men , unlike 15 years ago, were right in sync with how things needed to be set up, and within minutes, we had a nice tent, cots, sleeping bags and comfortable area set up for our family. The area was beautiful - mountains, a stream and green green grass. It really was breathtaking.
