Lott's of Canning

I worked overtime this week, but was lucky enough to have Saturday off...so, it became a very long work day.  We were up early and started with unpacking several boxes and putting some more things in their places.  Pictures, pictures and more pictures went up on walls, more decorating was done, the laundry started and then we started 5 beef roasts in slow cookers to do some canning later.
Jordan and Lexi came over to spend the day with us and help around the house.  I let them do their laundry while we laugh, work and play and so everything gets done.  I was suppose to mow the yard, but it seems that a young man, in his thirties or so, recently unemployed and with a family, stopped by and offered to do our yard for minimal charge, so Del gave him the work.  I'm glad, as the man needs it, but I will be honest, I was counting on the weekly massive 'sweating 2 hours' to melt off all my extra pounds...now I'm going to have to start walking our street every night instead.  Del says our block is about a mile...we're going to clock it today.
The canning project was fun...Lexi was a huge help...Jordan was helpful...and Kathryn laid on the couch.  But she wasn't the worst...LACEY stood close by hoping for any scraps to be dropped her way.  But the project went well with Del using his new camping chef stove that I got him for Christmas to do the actual cooking...OUTSIDE.  It was great.
Del also took Jordan out in to 'the forest' to do some clearing of tree's, bushes and brush' and both came out sweating, flushed and exhausted.  It was then, I think, that Jordan suggest I slip a 'chill pill' into dad's food sometime to slow him down.  I asked Jordan..'Who is the hardest working man you know?'  He said, 'Besides me?'...Yeah Jordan, besides you...'Dad'.  I smiled and said, 'And it will always be that way'.
We had a great hamburger dinner and then relaxed by spending the evening eating brownies and watching the movie 'The Count of Monte Cristo'.
Del and I sleep really hard these days.  We are exhausted.  And we don't even have the garden in yet!!!
