I Knew EXACTLY What I Was Doing!!

He's going to be 64 this year.
A friend of mine described him as 'a great combination of Magnum PI and Sean Connery'.
Uh, yuh think!!??
Del is not a 'facial hair in public' guy.  He never has worn a beard or mustache out in public and seldom, if ever, goes a day without shaving.  He's always clean shaven.
But knowing that he wouldn't be attending church OUTSIDE the home for weeks on end, the kids, mostly the girls, begged him to grow a beard until the first Sunday that we are allowed to go back to Sunday Services at the chapel.  He agreed.
But it's driving him crazy.  It itches, it pokes him and he is not at all comfortable with it.
BUT DANG!!!  He looks good!!!!
I've taken a few pictures - for history - and I'll take a last one right before he shaves it off.  But between me and you?  He's not going to last much longer.
But looking at him now, I knew exactly what I was doing almost 38 years ago when I said yes to marrying him!!
He's like a fine wine - he ages nicely.

Tuesday Mar 31, 2020 Nightly News -

National News from New York, the hardest hit place right now.  Not enough respirators, face masks or hospital beds to take care of those getting the virus.

This National Doctor proclaiming the next two weeks to be a total shut down of the country.

Current projection of the virus.

A financial blessing going out to most Americans  Del and I personally should be getting about $2000.

This is our Texas Governor giving the most current stipulations for our state.  No STATEWIDE stay at home order, but through several counties - ours included.

This was the death toll for yesterday.  But we're being told to quit getting wrapped up in the numbers, as they will change from day to day, hour to hour and minute to minute.
But those are not just numbers - they are people.  People who have died.  They have to count.  We have to count them.

6650 Blackjack Oaks Rd

Every single temple throughout the whole world is closed, due to this Coronavirus.
That means, that this home of ours at 6650 Blackjack Oaks Rd., is now the most sacred place on earth for us.  This home is where we worship and pray to our Heavenly Father for peace and comfort during these most difficult of times throughout the world.  This home is where we perform sacred ordinances.  This home, where we gather our children and grandchildren to love unconditionally and to help grow with a love for their Savior. This home is where the priesthood performs miracles for our family. This home where we study and learn of our Savior in the scriptures, mainly of the Book of Mormon. This home, where we follow the directive and counsel of our Prophet, Pres. Nelson. And this home is where we have continual visitation from the Holy Ghost and the spirit of our Savior and Our Father in Heaven.
Our Home.
Our Sanctuary.
Our Safe Haven.
Our Temple.
May our Home continue to be Blessed.

Stay at Home: Shelter in Place

Today, a judge for Denton County, of which we live in, has ordered all residents to abide by a Stay at Home and Shelter in Place order for the next month.  That means we are restricted to our homes except for essentials like food, prescriptions  and work, if your job is essential (doctor, nurse etc).  So, we are basically in LOCK DOWN.  And we are to socially distance ourselves from all people, which means 6 foot distance apart from everyone.
We live in difficult times.

The Coronavirus of 2020

Schools are closed including colleges and universities - indefinately.
Restaurants are closed except for take out and drive through.
Banks are closed.
Small Businesses are closed - including Jordan's car detailing.
Wedding Venues are closed, cancelling our March and April events - total of  5 - and Jordan's       cleaning of those venues.
All Bars closed.
Libraries and other locations of gathering are closed.
Grocery stores have had empty shelves for almost a week now, and foretold to be another 3-4 weeks.
The virus is in EVERY state of the United States now, with thousands dying every day.
In is also in almost EVERY country in the world with literally thousands dying there also.  The headlines of yesterday's paper was that Italy had lost a whole generation of people - over 5000.
The federal government has mandated that no more than 10 people can gather together at anytime and that we are all quarantined to our homes.
My MCO choir rehearsals and concert have been postponed and have to be rescheduled.
And ALL sports - professional, collegiate, local, state wide, nationally  ARE CANCELLED!!  That meant, no NCAA March Madness with BYU finally going to the dance - no baseball, no volleyball - no basketball - no NOTHING!!!!!!!!  My mind literally is in withdrawals...
And there is NO vaccination or cure for this virus.

Now, with all this information, here is the action that the church has taken.
ALL gatherings and meetings have been cancelled until further notice - indefinitely is the word being used.
No sacrament meetings.
No Youth or stake meetings.
The temples are closed, except for live ordinances, and even they are postponed.
General Conference will be held in a special location where only the First Presidency and those giving prayers etc , will be invited to be there.  Not even the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will be there, and they have pre-recorded all the songs for the conference.
Missionaries are being sent home and those still in the field, are being quarantined.
We have been given permission to have Sacrament meeting in our homes - and last Sunday, along with Jordan's family, we held our own family Sacrament meeting.  It was such a spiritual experience, as Del and Ammon prepared the Sacrament, then blessed and passed it to each family member.  Emerson and Evie were slightly in awe about the old thing.  I was overwhelmed with love for my family and Father in Heaven for the opportunity to be together having that experience.

Emotions are raw and overwhelming over this whole experience.  There are not enough medical supplies, tests or equipment to try and take care of those with the virus.  California and New York have mandated 'stay home' directives to ALL people of those states with many other states wanting to do the same.  People are literally dying every minute.  You can see maps of the world where it appears just as a plague moving gradually from west to east, overcoming every corner of the globe.
Parents are faced with tying to now be care givers, teachers and still take care of their homes 24/7 now.. People quarantined are depressed, panicked and acting out drastically .  People are stock piling food and supplies, not leaving enough for those who are also in need.  There is a sense of selfishness with some and yet, on the other hand, there re those offering 'all they have' to those who have none.

This country, and the world, is in shock.  The news keeps us updated by the hour showing the gradual progression of the virus throughout the world.  And for those that already have the virus, there are not enough medical supplies to take care of them.  Hence, the panic continues.  And our President Trump is literally causing more harm than good.  He is in denial and claims things are not as bad as it seems.  That he'll find people to make more supplies - he's just shooting off his mouth - he's just an idiot!!  I can't stand to even watch him on the tv, trying to act like he knows what he's saying.
On the other hand, we have President Nelson who sends us a very beautiful message of hope and faith for the people of the world.  And expresses how excited he is about the upcoming General Conference.  What a wonderful help his message has been to those of us who are experiencing slight feelings of being upended and unsettled.

So.  Bottom line?  We are at home, enjoying occasional visits from our family and watching a lot of tv, reading of scriptures and reading of books.  Del and Ammon both work from home, of which gives me sooo much calm.  I pray for the rest of my children and their families.  The Lord is very aware of His children on planet earth.  We must remain calm - allowing the Lord to be in control.
Del feels everyone is very much over reacting.  He feels this is a normal course of life.  I don't quite feel the same - I don't feel panic is necessary, but I do believe in being proactive and preventing things from happening if possible.  It appears there may be some tension  between Del and I when we discuss the subject.  He's a pro- Trump, I'm not.  So I will need to be careful when I discuss things with Del.  I don't want any contention i n our home during times like this.  I want to enjoy the promised peace the Lord is sending by obedience to commandments and righteous living.

Weather Pro's and Con's

Spring Storms are the best.
I love the thunder, the lightening, and the pouring rain.  But only if I'm enjoying it from inside my house, not out driving in it.  And then, after it rains, our creek in our backyard is full, and from sitting in my swing on my back porch, I can hear the water rushing from neighbor to neighbors house, and it is so peaceful and calming.
And then when the rain leaves, and it warms up a little bit, we congregate as a family on the back porch and enjoy our cold soda drinks, and homemade scones and treats.  It's all just perfect for where we live and what e get to enjoy and experience each day.
So grateful.

Nana's Day - Spring Break 2020

I love these 5 little rugrats.  More than I can express sometimes! And every year, I try to have a Nana's Day during either their Spring Break or another good time of the year.  They LOVE being together and playing.  And I love nothing better than watching them be together, laughing and exploring as they always do.  The older one's might be starting to outgrow the typical things I do on this Nana's Day, so I might need to create some new activities for in the future, but I'm hoping to do this for years on end.
Each child adds so much to the dynamic of the day.  Preston loves to have organized activities.  Madison loves to kind of do things on her own.  Emerson just loves anything and everything, as long as he is with his cousins  Lucy loves to roam and discover things.  And Evie?  She just follows Preston because she adores him.  They are each so brilliant to me too!!  They have great imaginations and love to make up pretend things, especially Emerson. I do all I can to keep up with the five of them.
But it gives me some great time with them, and some free time for their parents to have a breather.
The pictures show just some of the fun we had.

Snake Season

This is both the best and the hardest time of the year for me.  It's the time to plant a garden, let the chickens out to roam, enjoy the spring weather out o the porch with family and friends....and...
SNAKES!!!
Usually, it's our grandchildren that find them in the yard, by the creek, or out in the back near the forest.  And 90% of them are not harmful.  But it's the 10% copperheads or water moccasins that scare the daylights out of me.  Honestly, they ALL scare the daylights out of me.
This one here, got named Joseph.  He was found and named by Preston.  Of course, Preston had to show Papa, then his sisters, and then his screaming mama and Aunt Chica.  I sat up on the porch, choosing to not have a front row seat to all the excitement.  But I got a real kick out of hearing all the documentary being expressed by my two daughters, who were yelling to their dad to stay away from the snake etc...
But this will most likely only be the beginning of our snake experiences this spring/summer.  I usually end up finding a few of them out by the chicken coop - by surprise, and THAT'S what scares me to death.
But this one, is the first of the season.
Welcome to our backyard Joseph!

Joining Some Friends For a Birthday

Moving out to Aubrey in the country has not really allowed us to make any real close friends.  We're out here in the country for a reason: we like the peace and quiet.  But there are some people that we have just not been able to live without, and we've become quite a close knit group.
We love the Burtons - the Newmans - the Ganns and a few other families.  This night was the celebration of Brandon Burton's birthday.  Really good people and a really good time.
